Hi guys,

Nathan from Reflex Gaming here.

Does anyone play slot machine games on their phone/tablet/PC?

Any favourites?

Cheers
Nathan

Hey Nathan,

Personally I like slots to a very low degree: after I get all bonus rounds / free spins features twice for any slot game I stop playing it (unless I have some serious incentive to return to it) regardless of how good it paid previously. This way I think I've played more than 50% of all existent online slots along the years. The other 50% had poor graphics in my opinion so I was never curious to try them out.

Most of the time I test slots in play money mode, otherwise I would have paid a small fortune to try them out like I did along the years.

Currently I have only 3 gaming applications on my phone, and I will detail these for you: 1. Farkle Live, 2. Big Win Blackjack, 3. BGNJ

1. Farkle Live - farkle is an interesting dice game which played in a head to head format puts your brain to work as it requires strategy.
I see no reason why this game is not offered online for real money.

This application is brought by Playkot, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be a very serious company as I have emailed to inform about a bug that this application have (both for mobile and Facebook) but no correction was ever implemented.

The bug is this: in theory you can roll with all 6 dice without to make a scoring hand (point 1 face up, point 5 face up, 3 pairs, any triple, any two triplets or a straight) but this will never happen when playing Farkle Live application. Anyway, no big fuss as the application cost is free.

So why do I still have Farkle Live application on my phone? Simply there is no better application out there yet, and it graphics a really stunning. All other similar applications have weaker graphics and comes with the same bug. The bug shows that the dice aren't random!

If you want to play Farkle on PC, on Facebook there is Farkle Pro application which does not have this bug. That is not mobile friendly.

2. Big Win Blackjack - according to my standards this is simply the best application for the blackjack lover: nice graphics, big cards, fast play, single or multi-seat, single deck, four decks, six decks, good penetration, allow players to hone their card counting, and it also has blackjack tournaments with a mix of AI players which are not too far from from offering the feel of a real tournament play. And it's FREE.

3. BGNJ (Backgammon NJ) - This is a paid backgammon application, but is the perfect backgammon mobile trainer or playing partner if you want to up your level at the game. In tutor mode it lets you know where you play bad and what is the best move. Or you can turn tutor off and play using your own brain then just save your games for later study. At its best level, on average the computer plays with a 1,5%-2% error rate, which by very hard training, it is humanly attainable! The graphics eye friendly, the game play is very fast and the application really cares about your phone battery by not wasting it too quickly like other applications! - This application costs $8 on Amazon.

The other viable options you may have when picking your favourite backgammon mobile application are:

XG Mobile which costs $10, have slightly poorer graphics (for my taste), but overall plays with a slightly better error rate (ranging from 1% to 1.5%). XG Mobile also come in a free version, but the error rate for play and analyze is about 3 times bigger than the standard (say somewhere at a 4%) and it does you can not save games for later analyze.

Backgammon Mobile Online by Alca Soc Coop - this one plays with a 1.5%-2% error rate, has no tutor mode, but lets you save your games easily for later computer analyze. Its graphics are great, the table is big, but the play speed is too slow for my taste and it eats phone battery like crazy. Also it has publicity advertisements after each game is finished (these go off if you pay $4 as in app purchase). A special feature of this free mobile application is that you can play online for free on FIBS servers which is a very nice idea, but unfortunately you can only play single games (1point match) and many times the software crashes near the end game or when entering and hitting from the bar (the good part is that Alca Soc Coop is listening to players voices and tries to fix these types of bugs, but takes them ages to do so).

By the way, if you are looking for a top backgammon mobile software which allows you to play online as well, you can buy Backgammon NJ for the same $8 price from Google Play and Google Play Game Services will allow you to play online hassle free, real-time games, chat, invite friends or auto-match for a game with random players, and you are not restricted to 1pt games like with Backgammon Mobile Online app.

Hope it helps,
Constantin

Hi Constantin,

Thanks for your interesting reply.

You mentioned a tutor mode, "Backgammon Mobile Online by Alca Soc Coop - this one plays with a 1.5%-2% error rate, has no tutor mode". I was wondering if you think a tutor mode is essential especially for newcomers to a mobile app?

Reflex Gaming have a number of their fruit machine games on a mobile app. At present there is no tutor mode but perhaps we could benefit from having one?

Have a go http://www.reflex-gaming.uk/

let me know what you think.

Cheers
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

Tutor mode may be valuable only for skill games (or games with a strategy, like blackjack) as long as it can accurately indicate what player decision is best. Tutor mode in slots makes no sense as the player have no options to affect the winning probability. A help file is enough.

For mobile applications, you should look to have super clear graphics with big visible symbols, fast play and necessarily be battery friendly.

In my experience, I find Rival, Concept,(new software that can be found at Betsoft casinos, so far), Slotland Entertainment, and most Winward/Topgame slots. I myself just recently graduated from a smartphone to a tablet, if only for screensize and memory upgrades. Some sites may try to ferret out if you use a phone/mobile device or a pc, but I always prepare with a flash enabled browser, which is almost always necessary with Android. But I still always come back to basic slots like found on the bingo sites.
Hope I was of some help!
