July 12, 2010 - As of yesterday, there were only around 2,600 players left at the World Series of Poker from the original 7, 319 entrants. Right now the overall chip leader is David Assouline. A Quebec resident, Assouline, began this morning with 387,000 chips. This puts him in the elite top 11 who have surpassed the 300,00 chip mark.
Nipping at their heels is one of the biggest names in Poker, Johnny Chan, with 281,000 chips. Chan is a two-time Main Event Champion. Next weekend this group will be weeded down to the final 9. November is when the final table is scheduled after the few month recess. The winner will be named and take home a whopping $8.94 million this year.
